NORFOLK, Va. – Luca Maldoner (Innsbruck, Austria), a sophomore on the Old Dominion men's tennis team was named the Conference USA Athlete of the Week on Wednesday afternoon, as voted on and announced by league officials. All weekly awards are presented by Top of the World.
Maldoner went 3-0 last week, highlighted by a victory in doubles over No. 6 nationally ranked Ryan Seggerman/Payton Holden of Princeton.
Also, against No. 24 Princeton, Maldoner won in singles in three sets (6-2, 4-6, 6-4). Maldoner won his doubles match against Yale, helping lift ODU to a 4-0 win. Old Dominion is now 10-2 on the season and has won seven of its last eight matches.
Maldoner and the Monarchs will be back in action Saturday, March 7, when ODU takes on New Mexico in Eugene Oregon.
