ATLANTA - Senior Jacklyn VandePoel placed fifth in the 500 freestyle to lead Old Dominion University swimming and diving on Wedneday night on the second day of the Conference USA Championships.

The seventh seed heading into the 500 freestyle, VandePoel took fifth with a time of 4:53.44, while sophomore Jacqueline Tinneny won the B-Final to finish ninth overall, with a time of 4:54.32. Freshman Miranda Byrne placed second in the B-Final for a 10th place finsih in 4:58.44.

Freshman Tara Enneking added more points for the Monarchs with an eighth place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.92.

Senior diver Amanda Caruso placed 15th in the 3-meter dive with a total score of 205.15.

ODU finished the night with a fifth place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. The group of Jacklyn VandePoel, Miranda Byrne, Tara Enneking and Summer Miln recorded a time of 1:34.75.

ODU is currently in fourth place with 127 points, 42 points behind third place Florida Atlantic.

The C-USA Championships continue tomorrow with the prelims at 10:30 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
