Projected Pitching Matchup - LHP Tommy Gertner vs. RHP Michael Dailey

RICHMOND, Va. - The Old Dominion (5-1, 0-0 C-USA) baseball team looks to continue its strong start with a midweek contest at VCU on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 3 PM to mark its first road game of the season. Junior Tommy Gertner will make his first appearance this season on the bump for the Monarchs.  The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and audio will be available on CUSA TV with Eric Bohannon on the call.

The Monarchs currently lead the nation for strikeouts per nine innings with 14. In ODU's series win over Holy Cross, the Monarch bullpen recorded 46 strikeouts over the three games. Newcomers Matt Coutney and Robbie Petracci had standout Sunday afternoon performances, both recording home runs. Senior Kyle Battle paces the Monarchs offensively with a .381 average, grabbing six runs on eight hits.

About the Rams
The Rams (5-2, 0-0 A-10) have taken on familiar faces to start its season in league foe Charlotte and crosstown rival Norfolk State. For the Rams, Brandon Henson, Steven Carpenter and Paul Witt each have six RBIs on the season, which paces the VCU squad. Unlike Monarch pitcher Tommy Gertner who will be making his first appearance this season, VCU's starter Michael Dailey has seen action in two ballgames this season, recording nine strikeouts and has allowed four walks.
Series History: ODU leads 92-61
