ORLANDO, Fla. – After a first round 291 (+3) Mallory Hetzel's women's golf team sits in seventh place at the UCF Challenge.
In the stacked field, Jana Melichova posted a 69 (-3) to sit in a tie for third on the 6,349 yard track. The sophomore collected four birdies and just one bogey during her round. Both Madison Corley and Leah Onosato notched even par rounds and sit in a tie for 19th individually. Rounding out the Monarch lineup, Noemie Sudron recorded a six-over 78, while freshman Pilar Muguruza carded an 80.
Through 18 holes, the Monarchs sit ahead of four top-50 teams in No. 36 UCF, No. 14 Illinois, No. 40 Iowa State and No. 15 Oklahoma State. ODU will be paired with Illinois and host, UCF in the second round of the tournament at Eagle Creek Golf Club.
