NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion wrestling team will have their final road trip of the regular season this weekend, as it heads north to face Navy on Friday night, February 14 at 7:30 p.m., then head to Fairfax, Virginia to take on Mid-American Conference (MAC) foe George Mason on Sunday at 12 p.m.

The Monarchs came out victorious in their last dual this past Monday against Drexel, walking out of Chartway Arena with a 25-11 victory over the Dragons. Seven Monarch wrestlers won their bouts, with three earning bonus points for their team.

Sa'Derian Perry earned his first technical fall victory of the season over Julian Flores in the 141-pound bout, while seniors Kenan Carter and Antonio Agee both earned wins by major decision, 11-2 and 10-0, respectively.

Killian Cardinale extended his personal winning streak to five matches, earning a 7-3 decision over Antonio Mininno for his 20th win of the season, a mark that leads the Monarchs this year.

Larry Early is in a hot stretch of his own, winning 12 of 13 bouts at 157 pounds, including a 3-2 win by decision over Parker Kropman.

Early, Cardinale and Perry are all featured in the latest national rankings for this week. Early comes in as high as 10th in the country in his weight class, while Cardinale sits at No. 14. Perry checks in at No. 18 in the latest TrackWrestling poll.

About Navy
Navy is currently on a four-match winning streak and is coming off of an impressive 39-6 win over Duke this past Sunday, winning nine out of 10 bouts, albeit with a shorthanded Duke team forfeiting the 125 and 141-pound matches.

The Midshipmen have five ranked wrestlers on their roster, with the highest-ranked wrestler coming at 165 pounds in No. 8 Tanner Skidgel. The top-10 wrestler is 15-4 on the season, with 14 wins coming by decision. The one bout in which he earned bonus points was a major decision victory at the Southern Scuffle.

At 174 pounds, Spencer Carey checks in at No. 16 in the country. Carey has earned bonus points for the Midshipmen in 10 of his 16 wins this season, collecting five pins, four major decisions and one technical fall.

At 197 pounds, freshman Jacob Koser rounds out FloWrestling's top-25 list. At 125, Logan Treaster checks in at No. 26 in the country, while Cody Trybus is considered the 31st-best in the nation at 141 pounds, both according to TrackWrestling. Both Treaster and Trybus have 19 victories on the season to pace the Midshipmen, while Koser has earned 18 victories this year.

Series History
The Monarchs are 3-7 against Navy in the 10 previous matchups these two programs have had. Navy won the first five matches before ODU won three straight duals against the Midshipmen.

Navy has won the last two battles over the past two years, including a 24-10 victory over ODU at Chartway Arena last year. Early earned a 12-3 major decision victory over Quentin Hovis for the only bonus points gained for ODU.

About George Mason
After a three-match span of not facing a conference opponent, the Monarchs will face off against George Mason on Sunday afternoon. The Patriots find themselves in a four-match losing streak and have also lost their last four MAC matches after starting the year 2-0 in conference battles

This past Sunday, George Mason suffered its worst loss of the season, getting drubbed by Hofstra, 40-5. The lone bright spot in the match came in the 141-pound bout, when No. 32 Alex Madrigal earned his NCAA-leading 11th technical fall win of the season.

Madrigal is the only ranked wrestler in the Patriots' projected lineup, which means there could be a ranked showdown between him and Perry at 141 pounds on Sunday. Madrigal, a former Monarch, is tied for his team's lead with 23 wins on the season.

Series History
Sunday's match represents the 23rd time these two Virginia schools have faced off against each other in a series that dates back to 1979. The Monarchs are 13-9 all-time in the series and have won the last 10 meetings. The last time the Monarchs took on the Patriots was in the 2012-2013 regular season finale when ODU came away with a 25-6 victory.
