NORFOLK, Va. - Head coach Fred Chao announced two additions to the volleyball team on Wednesday morning. Alessia Sgherza and Valentina Culaciati join the inaugural women's volleyball squad for the spring semester.
Alessia Sgherza - Outside Hitter - 6-2 - Massa, Italy - Graduate
Chose ODU for the campus, the people in the program and the proximity to the beach.
"Alessia will be the 'veteran' of our young squad. She has played at a high level in her home country and brings a calmness that will benefit us. Valentina Culaciati - Middle Hitter - 6-2 - Bahia Blanca, Buenos Aires, Argentina - Freshman
A member of the Argentinian National Team from 2017-18 as well as a member of the Buenos Aires Province Team in 2017. Chose ODU for the start of the new program and really liked the coaching staff.
