WEST POINT, N.Y. – Old Dominion University women's swimming squeezed past George Mason by one point, 149-148, and knocked off American on Saturday in a quad meet at Army. The men's squad defeated American 209-74 but fell to Army and George Mason. The women's team also fell to Army.
Miranda Byrne earned the first top-three finish for the Monarchs, finishing third in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:46.61.
Jacklyn VandePoel added the women's second-straight top-three finish with a third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.01.
Alex Arrieta earned the men's first top-three finish with a third in the 200 free with a time of 1:41.21.
Alizee Brossier took third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.51, while Tara Enneking took second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.94.
Peter Durisin added another third-place finish for the men with a time of 56.83 in the 100 breaststroke.
Rylee Moss earned the second-straight second place finish for the women, with a time of 2:09.77 in the 200 butterfly.
Filip Svedberg swiped the first win of the meet, edging Kevin Lin of Army by .04 in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:51.16.
ODU took second and third in the 200 backstroke, as VandePoel was second with a time of 2:04.54 and Brossier took third in 2:05.33.
Enneking added another solid finish by taking third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:23.53.
Svedberg added his second win of the day with a triumph in the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.57.
Enneking earned one more big finish with a second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:08.00.
The men finished the meet with a third place spot in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:24.93. Svedberg, Arrieta, AJ Profaca and Parker Harp were on the team.
