NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's tennis team improved to 3-0 on the season after taking down Norfolk State (0-1) by a 6-0 score on Wednesday afternoon at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. The Tennis Monarchs have now outscored their opponents 18-0 in their first three matches of the 2020 spring season.
"It was special hosting Norfolk State today with all the strong connections between the two programs," explained ODU head coach Dominic Manilla. "Good luck to NSU the rest of the way!"
Match Notes:
*Brittany Pilkington, head coach of NSU, is the older sister of ODU student-athlete Brooke Pilkington.
*John Brinkman, now the volunteer assistant coach at Norfolk State, spent over a decade in the same role at Old Dominion.
Old Dominion will return to action on Friday, Jan. 24 at 10:00 a.m., when the Tennis Monarchs take on Columbia, as part of the 2020 ITA National Kick-Off in Chapel Hill, N.C.
