NORFOLK, Va. – After a four-game road stretch, the Old Dominion (6-1) women's basketball team returns home Sunday, Dec. 8 to host the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (2-6) at 2 pm in the Chartway Arena. The Monarchs are off to their best start since the 2012-13 season.
ODU notched their third-straight victory on Thursday evening with their 69-58 win over William & Mary. Four players in Mariah Adams (13 pts), Ajah Wayne (13 pts), Taylor Edwards (12 pts) and Amari Young (12 pts) scored in the double digits. Adams had a standout performance, draining six-of-six free throws and grabbing four steals, both career-highs. Senior Victoria Morris continues to shoot the three-ball, scoring at least one three-point field goal in the last six contests for the Monarchs. Morris continues to lead the Monarchs in scoring, averaging 12.3 points per game.

Despite the two-and-a-half-hour ride between one another, the two teams have met just four times in the past. The Monarchs have won three of the four games.

About the Hawks
The Hawks are coming off a tough loss against Richmond. UMES has picked up two wins this season in Greensboro College (D3) and Wesley College (D3). The team has compiled a tough non-conference schedule, facing Syracuse, Virginia Tech and William & Mary all on the road. Leading the way for the Hawks is New Jersey native Amanda Carney, who averages 10.4 ppg. Carney has notched 19 three-point field goals this season. Carney has also led the way defensively, earning 37 rebounds through their eight games.
