NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's basketball team will be hosting the inaugural Anne Donovan Classic, which will feature Richmond, Hampton and Mount St. Mary's. Every single game will be streamed on C-USA TV, a paid subscription service.
ODU (7-2) is coming off a setback at VCU, where they fell 62-49 to mark their second loss of the season. The Monarchs did not lead at any point during the contest, also facing their biggest deficit in a game, trailing by 17 during the fourth quarter. ODU is now one of five teams in Conference USA that have two losses this season.
Individually, after grabbing 10 rebounds at VCU, Amari Young now leads the Monarchs in rebounding, averaging 7.3 rebounds per game. Redshirt sophomore Vanessa Blagmon checked in at VCU, marking her first time playing for the Monarchs after sitting out a year due to NCAA transfer rules. Victoria Morris continues to pace the Monarchs in scoring, averaging 11.2 points per game, scoring at least one three pointer in the last eight of nine contests.

About Richmond
After coming off a 9-21 season in 2018-19, the Spiders are off to a 6-4 start since head coach Aaron Roussell joined the program as their head coach from Bucknell. Last time out, the Spiders suffered one-point loss to Furman. Individually, Kate Klimkiewicz leads the pack in scoring, averaging 11.4 points per game. Defensively, Jaide Hinds-Clarke has grabbed 44 defensive rebounds, which leads the team.

About Anne Donovan
Anne Donovan is an ODU legend who passed away in June 2018. Donovan, a 6-foot 8-inch center played at Old Dominion University from 1979 to 1983, helping to lead the Lady Monarchs to a national championship in 1980 and two more Final Four appearances during her four years. She holds multiple records, including becoming the all-time leading scorer and rebounder in ODU history with 2,719 points and 1,976 rebounds. Donovan is a member of the ODU Hall of Fame, Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, CoSIDA Academic All-American Hall of Fame, Hampton Roads Hall of Fame, FIBA Hall of Fame, Naismith Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. Once graduating from ODU, Donovan continued playing professionally and was a member of the gold medal United States basketball team in the 1984 Olympics. The New Jersey native began coaching, making stops here at Old Dominion, ECU, Seton Hall and the WNBA, winning a WNBA title in 2004 with the Seattle Storm. Donovan was named the USA Basketball head coach in 2006, making her the first player turned head coach to win gold as both.

Hace Toy Drive
ODU Athletics will be running the Hace Toy Drive, which will run through Dec. 18-22. If you bring an unwrapped toy to the Chartway Arena you will receive $3 off admission to any women's or men's game during that time frame.
