RICHMOND, Va. – The Old Dominion (7-2) women's basketball team fell to VCU on the road 62-49 to snap their four-game win streak.

"We're a team that has to score in transition to be very effective," said head coach Nikki McCray. "We had to open up the game and get the ball down the floor, so we didn't have to come down and play against that length that we faced a majority of that time."

In the opening 10 minutes, ODU struggled to score, trailing 15-8 through the first quarter. Aziah Hudson scored six of the Monarchs eight points during that time. ODU picked up the pace in the second quarter, scoring 16 points, heading into the locker room trailing by just two.

The Rams (4-6) opened up a nine-point lead in the third, notching 10 points from the paint. Eight points from senior Taylor Edwards kept the Monarchs in the contest heading into the fourth quarter. The Rams picked up momentum in the final 10 minutes and notched 21 fourth quarter points to the Monarchs 11 points.

"I thought offensively we're struggling to shoot the basketball. We're a team where we play extremely hard and get after it defensively."

Overall, ODU dropped just their 18th meeting to the Rams in program history. The team was led by Edwards and sophomore Ajah Wayne, who both knocked in 10 points.
