BOCA RATON, Fla. - In an offensive battle that went back and forth, the Old Dominion (3-11-1, 1-5-1 C-USA) men's soccer team fell to FAU (7-7-1, 3-4-0 C-USA) after an overtime goal lifted the Owls over ODU, 4-3. 

With the Friday night loss, the Monarchs did not qualify for the 2019 C-USA Tournament that is held in Norfolk from Nov. 13-17. 

To open up the match, ODU got out to an early lead off of Tom Wustenberg and Deniz Dogan goals in the 2nd and 13th minutes, respectively. Just before halftime, the Owls cut the Monarch lead in half with a goal in the 39th minute. ODU went into the locker room with a 2-1 lead. 

In the second half, FAU netted the equalizer in the 52nd minute. Notching his first goal of the season, Hans Kroschwitz gave ODU the lead with 10 minutes to go in regulation. In the 88th minute, the Owls answered the ODU goal to send the match into overtime. 

FAU ended the match in the seventh minute of overtime off a free kick. 

Overall, ODU took eight shots.
