Game Notes - ODU | Campbell
NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion women's basketball team officially begins its 2019-20 campaign with its season opener against Campbell (1-0) on Friday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m. ET at the Chartway Arena.
The game will be streamed on CUSA.TV and also aired on ESPN Radio 94.1 featuring play-by-play from Doug Ripley.
The Monarchs are coming off one of the biggest turnarounds, not only in program history, but in the nation. In Nikki McCray’s second season, the Monarchs went 21-11, marking a 13-win improvement from the previous season. The 13+ win mark was the second-best single-season improvement in program history and the sixth-best turnaround in the NCAA last year. With the 21 wins, ODU earned an at-large bid to the WNIT, the program’s seventh appearance in the WNIT and first postseason appearance since 2015.
In their exhibition, ODU hosted the Captains of CNU at home on Nov. 1. The Monarchs put up 114 points over the Captains, who reached the DIII Sweet 16 in 2019. Aziah Hudson and Victoria Morris led the pack with 18 points and 16 points, respectively. Senior Taylor Edwards recorded six steals.

About Campbell

Their 66-point margin of victory marked the third-largest at home in program history and the largest ever on opening night. Individually, they had two players record 18-point games in Kianna Speight and Taya Bolden. Bolden also picked up seven steals, while the team notched 58 points off of St. Andrews turnovers.
Last season, the Camels finished with a 23-13 mark. They made a postseason run with an appearance in the WBI semifinal. Campbell also competed in the 2019 Big South Championship game but fell to Radford 57-45.
