NORFOLK, Va. – Emily Roberts of the Old Dominion women’s soccer team was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, as announced and voted on by league officials.
Roberts anchored ODU’s backline to a 1-0 victory at Charlotte to close out the regular season. The clean sheet was the fifth of the season for Roberts and the Monarchs defense, while the 49ers had only been shutout in conference play one time prior to Friday’s match. Roberts played all 90 minutes against Charlotte.
Earlier today, Roberts (Severn, Md.) was named to the All-Conference USA All-Academic Team.
Roberts and the Old Dominion defense allowed only one goal or less in 12 of its contests this season.
