Nhek, Roberts and Kennett Named to C-USA All-Academic Teams

NORFOLK, Va. – Amanda Nhek, Emily Roberts and Riley Kennett of the Old Dominion women’s soccer team were named to the 2019 Conference USA All-Academic Team on Monday afternoon, as Nhek garnered First Team accolades, while Roberts and Kennett were Second Team honorees.

Earlier this season, Nhek (Gainesville, Va.) was named the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week. She boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA as a Teacher Preparation major with a Health Education minor and made the Dean’s List in the Fall of ’18 and Spring of ‘19. Nhek is also a C-USA Honor Roll and Conference USA Commissioner’s Medals honoree for the Fall of ‘18 and Spring of ’19. She led the team in goals (8), assists (6), points (22) and was second on the squad for game-winners (2). Her eight goals came on 12 shots on frame. Nhek scored a goal in nine straight matches (dating back to last season).

Roberts (Severn, Md.) was voted to the All-Conference Preseason Team. As a junior, she served as a team co-captain and has compiled a 3.70 GPA as an Exercise Science major with Psychology minor. She made Dean’s List in the Fall of ‘17, Spring of ‘18 and Spring of ’19 and has been a C-USA Honor Roll honoree for the Fall of ‘17, Spring of ’18 and Spring of ’19. Roberts also earned Conference USA Commissioner’s Medals in the Fall of ‘17 and Spring of ’18. As a defender, she scored one goal and dished out two assists. Roberts and the defense pitched five shutouts this season.

Kennett (Toms River, N.J.) has compiled a 3.97 GPA as an Exercise Science major with a Psychology minor. She made Dean’s list for the Fall of ’18 and Spring of ‘19 and earned C-USA Honor Roll accolades and Conference Commissioner’s Medals for the Fall ‘18 and Spring ’19. Kennett scored two goals this season, one being a game-winner, as well as dished out one assist as a defender. She helped ODU go undefeated in non-conference play, as Kennett and the Monarchs got off to the best start in program history since 2005. Kennett and the defense only allowed one goal or less in 12 contests.
