GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Old Dominion (3-10-1, 1-4-1) men's soccer team fell at UNCG, 3-1 on Saturday night. Edison Giron and the Monarchs got on the board first before the Spartans (7-8-1, 5-1-0) scored three-straight goals.
"It was a difficult loss in a game where we had a one goal lead but our focus is on next Friday night against FAU for a chance to play in the C-USA Tournament at home," said head coach Alan Dawson.
To open play, ODU took four shots but the score was 0-0 heading into the locker room.
In the second half, Edison Giron found the back of net in the 52nd minute, which marked his first collegiate goal. Deniz Dogan was credited with the assist.
The Spartans answered ODU's goal with three-straight in the 80th, 81st and 83rd minutes to close out the match.
Overall, Djibril Doumbia made six saves through the 90 minute match. The Spartans outshot ODU, 21-15.
