NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion (2-0) women's basketball team is set to host the Norfolk Public Schools for their Ninth Annual Education Day Game on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 11 a.m. ET when they welcome Winthrop (1-1) to the Chartway Arena.
The game will be streamed on CUSA.TV and also aired on ESPN Radio 94.1 featuring play-by-play from Doug Ripley.
The Monarchs are coming off a 89-77 win over Auburn, which marked the programs first win over a Power Five opponent since the 2014-15 season. Sophomore Ajah Wayne tabbed C-USA Player of the Week honors after her 35-point performance at Auburn, which set a career-high in points. The Monarchs also set a program-record 14 single-game 3-pointers.
About Winthrop
The Eagles are coming off a 56-46 win over North Carolina Central. Leading the way was Ja'Che Whitfield with 14 points, 10 rebounds, one steal and one assist. Head coach Lynette Woodward's squad was picked to finish seventh in the preseason poll.
Series History
This will be the first meeting between the two teams since the 1971-72 season, when the Eagles downed ODU 51-47. Against current members of the Big South, ODU is 31-8. ODU will face Hampton, another Big South opponent this season in the Anne Donovan Classic on Dec. 20. Most recently ODU topped Big South's Campbell in their home opener.
