FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. - Old Dominion University football senior Mufu Taiwo is one of 98 nominees for the Wuerffel Trophy, presented by the Chick-fil-A® Foundation.

The Wuerffel Trophy, known as "College Football's Premier Award for Community Service," is presented annually to the Football Bowl Subdivision player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement. Named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback, Danny Wuerffel, from the University of Florida, the Wuerffel Trophy has honored over 1,200 nominees since its inception in 2005.

Taiwo has been a constant in the community ever since he stepped foot on campus. He is ODU's president for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and has participated in the bone marrow drive and Special Olympics. He helped organize the Monarch Holidaytoy drive and Operation Christmas Child.

On the season, Taiwo has played in seven games, recording one tackle and half a tackle for loss.
