The Monarchs, who have already punched their ticket to the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship Presented by Jeep, have won three-straight conference matches, including their last match against Temple last Friday.

In the 2-1 victory over the Owls, senior Rebecca Birch scored a goal and added an assist, while senior Erin Huffman came away with ODU’s second goal. Marlee McClendon assisted on both goals of the contest, giving her a team-high eight helpers on the season.

Birch leads the team in goals and points, with eight and 20, respectively. Two other Monarchs have double-digit point totals, as Huffman and sophomore Riley Taylor each have 13 points on the campaign.

Sophomore goalkeeper Cam MacGillivray has been in goal for every minute of every game this season and has accrued 53 saves this season while posting three shutouts.

The Bobcats also took a one-goal loss against Yale on Sunday on the road, 2-1.

Bianka Strubbe leads the Bobcat offense with 14 points and six goals on the season. The goalkeeper duo Hedda Biermann-Ratjen and Mack Vorel have faced a lot of shots this season, combining for 94 saves.

After the game, the team will be honoring the seven graduating seniors, Julia Demeester, Rebecca Birch, Ashleigh Thomas, Alexandria Brewer, Tori Harwood, Jess Miller and Erin Huffman with an on-field ceremony.

Friday’s match is also a GREEN OUT game, an initiative started by Conference USA and Conference USA SAAC. GREEN OUT games are played in support of Mental Health Awareness. On Friday, the student athletes will wear green shoelaces to show support for fellow student-athletes, peers and community members in the pursuit of mental wellness. Conference USA encourages all to stand up to the stigma and continue the conversation.
