NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men’s golf team will play host to the 10th annual ODU/OBX Intercollegiate at Kilmarlic Golf Club in Powell’s Point, N.C. this upcoming week.

The event runs for three days, as the first 18 holes will be played on Sunday, October 20, while the final round is set to occur on Tuesday, October 22. Live scoring for the event will be available on BirdieFire.

The Monarchs have collected a top-10 finish in each of the first three tournaments they’ve played in so far to start the season, a feat that hasn’t been accomplished for the team since the start of the 2007-2008 season.

In ODU’s last event, the Firestone Invitational, the team finished in sixth place. Junior Gustav Fransson led the way for the Monarchs, placing third individually with a score of 5-under par. Senior Chris Ayers posted his third top-25 effort of the season, coming into the clubhouse with a final score of 3-over par, good for a tie for 21st in the event.

Fransson and Ayers will be joined by senior Carter Morgan, junior Rasmus Konradsson and freshman Filip Wetterqvist as they look to give ODU its first-ever win at the tournament they play hosts for.

Four other Monarchs will be hitting the links as well, as seniors Doug Rios Ceballos and Chandler Wilkins, sophomore Michael Minnehan and freshman Alex Zurat will each be playing as individuals.

Last season, the Monarchs placed fourth with a team score of 13-over par, just one stroke behind Drexel for a top-three finish.
