NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion rowing team kicks off its season this weekend by heading up to New England to compete on the Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Saturday, October 19.
The Monarchs will be competing in the Women’s Club 8+ at the Head of the Charles Regatta, which will take place at 2:43 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. A live stream of the event can be found on the Rowing Channel.
This year represents the 55th-annual Head of the Charles Regatta, a massive rowing event that has taken place since 1965. It is the world’s largest two-day rowing contest, and it welcomes 11,000 athletes that represent 24 countries and over 800 schools. Last season, the Monarchs placed 15thin the field of 33 boats in the Women’s Club 8+ race.
The Head of the Charles is on a three-mile course, which is alongside the Cambridge Boat Club. The regatta’s website can be found here.
