NORFOLK, Va. –The BIG EAST Conference announced on Monday afternoon its weekly awards, and Old Dominion freshman back Nicole Fredricks earned Freshman of the Week honors for the third time this season. Senior Tori Harwood also earned recognition from the conference, as she was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.

Fredricks has been a constant presence in the defensive backfield for head coach Andrew Griffith’s club, as she has played every minute of every game thus far this season. That didn’t change this past week, as Fredricks was a part of a defensive unit that held No. 15 Liberty to two goals in Old Dominion’s 3-2 victory over the conference foe on Friday. The defense backed that performance up with a strong showing on Sunday against No. 4 Duke, holding the Blue Devils to just on goal and two penalty corner opportunities in the Monarchs’ 1-0 loss.

This is the third week of the season that the BIG EAST named Fredricks the Freshman of the Week, with the first two honors coming in back-to-back weeks in September.

Harwood led the Monarchs offensively in their victory over the Flames, scoring two goals, including the game winner in the 50thminute, to earn a spot on the league's Weekly Honor Roll.

ODU will be back in action this coming Friday, October 18, when the Monarchs welcome Temple in a conference battle at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex. The game is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m.
