DENTON, Texas – In the C-USA opener for both squads, the Old Dominion women’s soccer team (6-1-1, 0-1-0) suffered its first loss of the 2019 season at North Texas (6-3-0, 1-0-0) by a 1-0 score at the Mean Green Soccer Stadium on Friday night. North Texas has won three of the last four Conference USA Tournaments.

“We came up a little short tonight,” said ODU head coach Angie Hind. “It’s not an easy place to play and against their physicality and direct play we struggled at times and never really got a hold on the game enough to play our game. I’m pleased with how we battled, but they took the chance and that’s the difference in a game like this one was.”

The Monarchs and Mean Green played to a scoreless first half, as North Texas attempted nine of the 11 shots in the opening 45 minutes.

Berklee Peters broke the tie in the in the 71st minute to give the Mean Green a 1-0 lead and ultimately victory on a windy Friday night in Denton, Texas.

NT held a 20-7 shot advantage and took seven of the match’s nine corners.

Jasmine Crawley made four saves in goal for ODU.

ODU will have a quick turnaround, as the Monarchs return home for a Sunday, Sept. 22 match against Auburn (4-3-1, 1-0-0 SEC) at 3:30 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex.
