NORFOLK, Va. - In the 108th minute of play, ETSU (1-1) scored a golden goal, which clinched the match in double overtime for the Buccaneers. The Monarchs (0-2) fell by a 3-2 final score on Monday night. 

Through the first 45 minutes of play, ODU and ETSU were scoreless. True freshman Djibril Doumbia made six saves in the first half alone. Doumbia totaled seven saves on the night. 

Five minutes into the second half, Deniz Dogan was awarded a penalty kick, which he knocked in to give the Monarchs a 1-0 lead. In the 78th minute, ETSU tied it up off a penalty kick. Less than one minute later, the Buccaneers were awarded another penalty kick, where they scored and took a 2-1 lead with 12 minutes to play in regulation.

In the 79th minute, Dogan ripped one over Bucs and Monarchs to tie up the match, 2-2. After 90 minutes of play, the two were headed to overtime. 

In the first overtime period, Daniel Corona and Daniel Bloyou took shots on goal to end the match but the Buccaneer keeper ultimately saved them both. In the second overtime period, Hauk Andreas Fossen of ETSU dribbled through defenders to end the match with a golden goal. 

The Buccaneers outshot ODU, 25-10.

ODU will host NJIT on Friday, Sept. 6 in the 44th Annual ODU Soccer Classic at 7 p.m.
