NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s soccer team (6-0-1, 0-0-0) will look to remain unbeaten as the Monarchs kick off Conference USA play for the 2019 season on Friday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. ET at North Texas (5-3-0, 0-0-0). ODU will then return home for a Sunday, Sept. 22 match against Auburn (3-3-1, 0-0-0) at 3:30 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex.
The start to the 2019 season is Old Dominion’s best since 2006. The Monarchs have outscored their opponents 21-8 so far this season.
“Last weekend, I thought we played our best soccer,” said ODU head coach Angie Hind. “North Texas is a top team in our conference and they have been and I have every respect for them for how they do that. Auburn is a really good SEC team, normally top 30 in the country. So, we have two big guns this weekend to go and challenge ourselves against. Our players are hungry, they want the next challenge, they want to see how good they can be, so we are just taking it a game at a time.”
North Texas has won three of the last four Conference USA Tournaments. Since the program’s birth in 1995, Head Coach John Hedlund has never experienced a losing season.
Auburn is coming off the program's fifth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and its 16th NCAA appearance in the last 18 seasons. The Tigers are one of 13 teams in the country to make five straight NCAA Tournament appearances.
