NORFOLK, Va. – After his victory in the VCU Invitational at the Country Club of Virginia’s Tuckahoe Creek Course, Old Dominion senior Carter Morgan was named the Conference USA Co-Golfer of the Week along with UTEP’s Oskar Ambrosius, as voted on and announced by league officials on Wednesday afternoon.
Morgan finished with a 13-under par for the event, including a tournament-best 64 in the second round of the par-72 course, to secure the victory for himself and lead ODU to its first tournament win since the 2016-2017 season.
Morgan shot a 5-under 67 in the final round to surpass Maryland’s Peter Knade, who started the round in a tie for first place, by one stroke. Overall, Morgan posted two eagles and 14 birdies in the tournament.
In two tournaments this season, Morgan is tied for the team lead with a 68.8 round average and two top-20 finishes.
The Monarchs will be back in action in two weeks, when they compete in the Firestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio from September 29-October 1.
