Probably the best base-runner and infielder in the school's history, Wiley Lee stole a then school-record 120 bases in 132 attempts and that mark ranks second all-time in Sun Belt Conference history.

As a freshman, he had 42 steals and hit .355 with 42 rbi's. He earned first-team Freshman All-American honors. That year, the Monarchs were 50-11 and won the Sun Belt Conference title. In 1986, Lee was a member of the U.S. national squad where he started at second base. Lee stole 40 more bases as a sophomore and 38 in 1987. He was a three-time All-Sun Belt performer, and ranked second at Old Dominion with 12 career triples, fourth in career hits with 231 and second in career runs scored with 193.

Lee was drafted in the fifth round by the California Angels in 1987, where he was selected to minor league all-star teams in both the California and Texas leagues. He graduated with a degree in distributive education and marketing.

He later returned to Hampton Roads to teach and coach at the Middle School and High School levels. In 2003 he led Great Bridge High School to the Virginia AAA State Championship, and again in 2011. Lee was named District Coach of the Yearin 2011. In the Spring of 2012 Lee was named interim assistant baseball coach atNorfolk State.

Lee earned his bachelor's degree in marketing education from ODU in 1989. He has taught since 1992 in the Chesapeake Public Schools' Center of Science and Technology. He and his wife, Jillayne, reside in Chesapeake and have two children, Justin and Ashley.

Lee was inducted into the ODU Sports Hall of Fame in 1994.
