Terry Hutchinson was one of the nations premier collegiate sailors for four straight years.Hutchinson earned first team All-American honors in each of his four years at Old Dominion University, and helped lead the Monarchs to four national championships. In 1989 and 1990 hewas named National Collegiate Sailor of the Year.
Hutchinson skippered the Monarchs to victory at the 1989 Sloop National Championshipin santa Cruz, Ca., and the Dinghy National Championships n Chicago. He took second in the 1990 Collegiate Singlehanded National Championships held in Annapolis, Md.
In 1989-90, Hutchinson steered the Monarchs to the Team Race National title in Boston,MA., and again won the Sloop National Championship in Charleston, SC. He then helped lead the Monarchs to second at the 1990 Dinghy Nationals in Boston. His efforts helped the OldDominion program earn the prestigious Fowle Trophy, twice, awarded to the school earning themost points in all national championship events during the year.
Hutchinson was named Old Dominion''s alumni Association''s Male Athlete of the Year in1990. He was the team''s Most Valuable Player three times. He was named to the All-Districtteam four times and won every district championship title at least once. He graduated with adegree in marketing education in 1990.
