Nick Boothe was a major cog in the Monarchs school record 50-11 season in 1985. He helped lead the Monarchs to the Sun Belt Conference title and a berth in the NCAA regional. Boothe dorve in 68 runs in 1983 and 76 runs In 1985 which still rank number three and four all-time bests ODU history.
Nick hit .364 in 1983 and still shares the single game home run record with three against Charlotte on April 6, 1985. He was named All-Sun Belt conference both in 1984 as a catcher and 1985 as an outfielder and was the team MVP in 1984. Nick is currently head baseball coach at Virginia Wesleyan College where he ranks 26th nationally with 586 career wins and is the only (ODAC) Old Dominion Athletic Conference coach to be named Coach of the Year six times.
Nick joins his wife, Olympian and ODU field hockey great, Yogi Hightower Boothe in the ODU Hall. The two have three children, Jessica, Tyler and Chase. Nick was inducted in the ODU Sports Hall of Fame on Oct. 13, 2012.
