Jim Weber was a four-time Collegiate sailing All-American at Old Dominion from 1987-1990. As a senior, he skipped the Monarchs to the 1990 ICYRA Collegiate Team National Championship in Boston, MA, teaming with fellow Monarch Hall of Famer Terry Hutchinson. That same year, he was a member of the second place Dinghy National Championship team.

The Monarch program was awarded the prestigious Fowle Trophy, given to the school which scores the most points in all five national championship events during the season.

In 1989, Weber skippered the Monarchs to the ICYRA Collegiate Dinghy National Championship and fifth place in the Team Race Championships.

In 1987 and 1988, Weber was a member of the 420 Class World Championship team. He skippered the Monarchs to first place finishes at the Anderson Trophy, Nevins Trophy, and Timmie Angsten Regatta. He also competed in the 1992 Olympic Trials.

Weber was the Most Valuable Player in 1990. He graduated with a degree in economics.
