Angela Cotman was a member of two AIAW National Basketball Championship teams in 1979 and 1980. An outstanding athlete with great leaping ability, Cotman completed her career at Old Dominion with 1,408 career points, 669 career rebounds and 140 career steals.
In 1997, she still owned the school mark with 140 career games played, in which she was an integral part of Marianne Stanley's juggernaut. During her four years, the Lady Monarchs compiled a 125-15 record, winning two AIAW titles and one WNIT crown.
As a starter for the Lady Monarchs, Cotman was named the 1978-79 MVP of the Optimist Classic and a two-time member of the Virginia All-State squad. In 1978, she was named to the National Women's Invitational Tournament All-America squad.
In 1977-78, she led the team in field goal percentage at .510. While playing in the shadows along side Nancy Lieberman, Inge Nissen and Anne Donovan, Cotman made a lot of noise of her own. She scored a career high 25 points against Radford as a sophomore. She scored 23 against Memphis State, 22 against Southern Connecticut, 18 against Ohio State. Cotman hauled in a career high 15 rebounds against Memphis State in 1978.
In four seasons, Cotman shot .512 from the floor and 314 career assists. She graduated with a degree in psychology.
