NORFOLK, Va. - In the Monarchs Conference USA opener, the Old Dominion (0-3-1, 0-0-1 C-USA) men's soccer team played UAB (1-3-1, 0-01 C-USA) to a 1-1 draw after 110 minutes of action. Freshman Simon Falck knocked in his first career goal in the 25th minute and the Monarchs lone goal of the night.
ODU held a 6-1 advantage in shots through the first 45 minutes of play, including Falck's goal, which was served from Jimmy Filerman.
The Monarchs went into the locker room at halftime with a 1-0 lead. To open the second half, Falck received a red card, which ejected him out of the game. ODU played a man-down the remainder of the match. In the 73rd minute, UAB's Blake White scored the equalizer.
In the first overtime period, ODU and UAB both took one shot but neither made the back of the net. During the second overtime period, ODU and the Blazers each took two shots. Through 110 minutes of play, UAB held a 9-5 advantage in corners.
Overall, Djibiril Doumbia made two saves, while Da'Vaughn Anderson took three shots.
