NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion field hockey team will play its first game away from home this Friday, September 13, as it takes a trip to University Park, Pa. to take on No. 17 Penn State at 6:00 p.m.
The Monarchs have won their last two games, as they shutout American in a 1-0 shootout victory, and followed that with a 3-1 win over William & Mary.
In the victory over W&M, the Monarchs scored all three times off of penalty corners. Seniors Erin Huffman and Rebecca Birch came away with a goal and an assist each, while junior Marlee McClendon had two assists in the effort.
In the last two games, sophomore Cam MacGillivray allowed just one goal, while collecting six saves.

Penn State has come out of the gates losing its first three contests of the season, each against ranked teams on the road. In their last game, the Nittany Lions dropped a 3-1 contest against Delaware. Sophomore Anna Simon and freshman Paityn Wirth each have a goal and an assist on the young season, while freshman goalkeeper Brie Barraco has collected 17 saves.

The last time these two teams played each other was in 2017, when the Nittany Lions defeated the Monarchs, 3-2 in the season opener. Overall, the Monarchs are 15-15 all-time against Penn State.
