DALLAS, Texas - Old Dominion baseball saw success in the classroom this past season, earning the highest GPA in Conference USA, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Sport Academic Award is given to the team in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest GPA for the academic year. ODU posted a 3.065 team GPA for the 2018-19 academic year.
Along with the academic accolades, ODU had two players taken in the 2019 MLB Draft in Vinnie Pasquantino and Bryce Windham. Freshman Andy Garriola was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball, NCBWA and D1 Baseball. The team posted a 35-21 record and qualified for the C-USA Tournament this past season.
