NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s soccer team was picked to finish sixth in the 2019 Conference USA Preseason Poll, as voted on by league head coaches and announced by conference officials on Monday afternoon. ODU defender Emily Roberts was one of 11 student-athletes to be named to the All C-USA Preseason Team.

The 2018 season, which was head coach Angie Hind’s fifth at ODU, brought more success to the program, as she led the Monarchs to their fourth consecutive C-USA Tournament appearance after going 5-3-2 in league to compliment an 8-7-4 overall record. The Monarchs ended the regular season on a seven-match unbeaten streak. The 16 goals allowed in the regular season set a new ODU program record.

During her sophomore campaign in 2018, Roberts (Severn, Md.) earned Second Team All-Conference USA honors, as well as was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year.

The Old Dominion women's soccer team opens up play with an exhibition against VMI on Friday, Aug. 16 at 6:00 PM at the ODU Soccer Complex. Friday's match is free for the public.
