NORFOLK, Va. – Aaron Carver of the Old Dominion men’s basketball team was one of 18 honorees to earn the 2018-19 Conference USA Scholar Athlete of the Year Award on Thursday afternoon, as announced by the league’s Faculty Athletics Representatives.
The 18 scholar-athletes were selected from C-USA’s full-time and affiliate member institutions across 19 sports (combining indoor and outdoor track & field).
Carver was one of five players named to the 2019 InTouch Credit Union Conference USA Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team back in March. He finished with a 3.43 cumulative GPA, earning his degree in Civil Engineering Technology with an Engineering Management minor. Carver was accepted and will begin his masters in the fall working toward his Engineering Management graduate degree.
The Elizabeth City, N.C.-native was one of four Monarchs to start every game this season. He ended the season first on team for offensive rebounds (82: 2nd in C-USA), second on team for rebounds (208: 16th in C-USA), third on team for blocks (16), fourth on team for minutes played (760) and sixth on the team for assists (29). Carver has been named a team captain for the upcoming 2019-20 season.
Carver is a C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and Commissioner's Medal recipient. He received the John R. Broderick and Kate Broderick Award, given to ODU’s best all-around athlete.
