NORFOLK, Va. – Conference USA announced the 14 student-athletes receiving the C-USA Spring Spirit of Service Award today, as Holly Hutchinson of the women's tennis team was Old Dominion's representative. The C-USA Spirit of Service Award is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league's student-athletes, based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport. The Spirit of Service award is presented three times throughout the season, with today's honorees representing spring sports: baseball, golf, softball, tennis and outdoor track & field.

Hutchinson earned First Team All-Conference USA accolades for singles and doubles and was a member of the Co-Outstanding Doubles Team of the C-USA Championship. She was named C-USA Athlete of the Week four times this past season, which was actually more than any other entire team in the league collected. At one point, Hutchinson garnered three weekly awards in a matter of four weeks.

The Middlesex, England-native ended the year nationally ranked No. 81 in singles and No. 73 for doubles. Hutchinson helped ODU earn its first ever at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, which marked the program’s second ever appearance in the Big Dance and first since 2001. At one point this season, Hutchinson helped ODU to a No. 19 national ranking, which is the best ever in program history.

Hutchinson turned in a 3.68 cumulative GPA as a communications major. She is a six-time C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll recipient and has made Dean’s List five times in her tenure in Norfolk. Hutchinson has volunteered at the Special Olympics Tennis Event, Read Across America and was a Pumpkin Patch Volunteer.
