Meet the Newest Monarchs

Erica Carpenter
Hometown: Abingdon, Md.
Position: Defender
Previous School: St. Francis University

Hind on Carpenter:
“I am delighted that Erica will be joining our program. She brings with her two years of experience playing already in Division I with St. Francis. I like her desire and defensive mentality, as that is something that we will need this season. I was impressed by her ability as a defender and also as someone who can also help initiate the attack. She carries herself well and brings a no-nonsense quality in defensive situations. Clearly, she is ambitious and I am delighted to welcome her to the team and our Monarch family, and very much look forward to working with her this fall.”

Nana Rosa Herskind
Hometown: Copenhagen, Denamrk
Position: Defender
Previous Team: Oure FA

Hind on Herskind:
“Nana is a strong defensive player with the composure and awareness also to be able to build from the back. She is an intelligent player who has good composure and the desire to compete. Again, coming from a different environment, she will bring a different look to our back line. I am excited to work with Nana as she is very clear in her desire to compete at the next level and has the dedication and ambition to want to make an impact here and help continue to raise the quality of our program. I am looking forward to having Nana join our Monarch family.”

Ece Turkoglu
Hometown: Istanbul, Turkey
Position: Midfielder
Previous Team: Turkey National Team

Hind on Turkoglu:
“I am thrilled to bring Ece onto our team as she will bring something different to our squad. She has a tremendously impressive background, already having played over 60 times for her National team and as an attacking player, I have seen few players of her age that have the one versus one ability, balance and creativity around the penalty box. She can play both wide and centrally and that adds to the potential impact she may have here at ODU. As a person, she is so humble and having the opportunity to compete and study at this high level is a dream come true for her. I am genuinely thrilled to have Ece become part of our team and family here at ODU.”

Loes Van Loon
Hometown: Wijchen, Netherlands
Position: Midfielder
Previous Team: SC Woezik

Hind on Van Loon:
“Loes will bring technical ability and creativity to our attacking third. She is a smart player with the quality and vision to bring others into dangerous areas on the field. Being a little older, she too will bring some experience and composure to our team and I am excited to have her join the team this year. Personally, I feel she will be a great fit for our team and will thrive well within the competitive and committed culture we have. I am excited to welcome Loes to our team and Monarch family.”
