NORFOLK, Va. – ODU women’s tennis head coach, Dominic Manilla, was named the 2019 ITA Atlantic Region Coach of the Year on Saturday.
Manilla led the Monarchs to a 19-5 season, while compiling a perfect 11-0 mark at home and a 3-0 record against conference opponents during the regular season.
Manilla’s team earned the program’s first ever at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, which marked ODU’s second ever appearance in the Big Dance and first for the program since 2001.
Earlier this year, Manilla led ODU into Knoxville, where the Monarchs took down No. 24 nationally ranked Tennessee. Manilla later led Old Dominion to a victory over No. 50 Baylor in Waco.
At one point this season, Manilla’s Monarchs were nationally ranked No. 19, the highest mark in program history.
Manilla had seven of eight rostered student-athletes receive Conference USA postseason accolades.
Last season, Manilla was named the ITA Atlantic Region Coach of the Year, as well as the VaSID State Coach of the Year.
