NORFOLK, Va. – For the third straight year, the Old Dominion women’s golf team is headed to the NCAA Tournament after receiving an at-large bid on Wednesday evening. The Monarchs were seeded No. 10 in the West Regional, which will be held at Tumble Creek Golf Club on May 6-8 hosted by Washington.
72 teams were split among four regional championships. Last season, the Monarchs traveled to Wisconsin for the NCAA Regional, where they took 13th.
After regional competition, 24 teams and 12 individuals will advance to the national championships at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark., from May 17-22.
ODU is currently ranked No. 40 in the latest Golfstat rankings. The squad recently took a third place finish at the C-USA Championships on April 17. ODU had six top-5 finishes as a team this season.
Individually, Charlotte De Corte was a member of the C-USA All-Tournament Team and the First Team All-Conference. Jana Melichova was named C-USA Freshman of the Year on Tuesday afternoon, while Melichova and Leah Onosato were named to the C-USA Second Team and Sana Tufail to the Third Team All-Conference.
