Hutchinson Claims Fourth C-USA Athlete of the Week Award of Season

NORFOLK, Va. – Holly Hutchinson of the Old Dominion women’s tennis team was the Conference USA Athlete of the Week on Wednesday afternoon, as announced by league officials.

The weekly award marks Hutchinson’s league-leading fourth of the season and third in the past four weeks. Hutchinson has won more weekly awards than any other C-USA team.

ODU leads the league with six weekly awards. Rice, who has the second most, has won three weekly awards this season.

Hutchinson, who is ranked 79th in the nation, went 3-0 last week, notching a pair of singles wins and a doubles victory. The junior earned both singles wins in straight-sets over opponents from William and Mary and C-USA foe Marshall. Her biggest victory came over the 82nd-ranked tandem from William and Mary. Hutchinson paced the Monarchs to a pair of wins to close out the season with a 17-3 record. Hutchinson and teammate Brooke Pilkington are now nationally ranked No. 87 in doubles by the ITA.
