Lacrosse Falls to Marquette, 17-7

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion (3-12,  0-3 Big East) lacrosse team fell to Marquette (8-7, 2-1 Big East) at home on Saturday afternoon by a 17-7 score. Six different Monarchs in Glory Johnson, Madi Johnson, Claire Porter, Sophia Richie, Lilly Siskind and MK Maloney contributed to scoring. 

Madi Johnson opened scoring for ODU off a free position shot. The first goal of the game also marked Johnson's fist career goal. 

The Golden Eagles proceeded to score five unanswered goals to take a 5-1 lead. Glory Johnson and Porte then netted one to close in on the Marquette lead. MK Maloney notched one off a free position before four more Marquette goals before the half gave them the 10-4 lead after 30 minutes of play. 

Marquette opened the second half of play with three-straight goals before Glory Johnson scored a goal unassisted. The Golden Eagles scored four more goals with 20 minutes to play in the second half, while ODU netted just two from Sophia Richie and Lilly SIskind, respectively. 

Katie Miller picked up nine draw controls, while Glory Johnson earned five. 

There were five yellow cards handed to each team. Haleigh Wurzel made nine saves in goal. 

Overall, Marquette outshot ODU, 32-22. The Monarchs earned 12 more draw controls then the Golden Eagles.
