MANHATTAN, Kan. –Jordan Wicks tossed seven scoreless innings to lead Kansas State to a 6-2 win over Old Dominion baseball Saturday evening in Manhattan.
The loss snaps ODU’s nine-game winning streak and drops the Monarchs to 10-3, while K-State improves to 6-7 on the year.
Chris Ceballos lifted a three-run homer in the third inning to put the Wildcats on top and K-State added a run in the fourth on a Terrence Spurlin sacrifice fly.
K-State added a run in the 6thon a double from Jordan Maxson for a 5-0 lead.
The Monarchs got on the board with a two-run double from Kyle Battle in the eighth inning to cut the deficit to 5-2, but a Spurlin homer in the eighth pushed the lead back to 6-2.
Battle led the Monarchs with two hits on the day, while Morgan Maguire suffered the loss, allowing five runs, four earned, in 5.2 innings.
