NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion baseball caps off its 12-game homestand to open the season with a midweek series against Campbell at the Bud Metheny Complex.
First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on Tuesday and Wednesday. Both games will be streamed on CUSA.tv.
The Monarchs have won seven straight, including a series sweep of Rutgers this past weekend. During the 7-game stretch, ODU is hitting .348 and has a staff ERA of 2.29.
For the season, Old Dominion is hitting .323 as a club. Matt Burch (.436, 7 RBI, 8-8 SB), Bryce Windham (.414, 5-5 SB, 10 BB) and Kyle Battle (.400, 6 XHB, 13 RBI) are hitting .400 or better. Matt Schwarz (.308, 2 HR, 12 RBI) leads the team in home runs and ranks second in RBIs.
On the mound, the Monarchs have an ERA of 2.80 and have held opponents to a .228 average. Southpaw Tommy Gertner, who threw three shutout innings in his debut last week against VMI, will start on Tuesday. Wednesday's starter is to be determined.
ODU is 2-0 in midweek games so far this season. Both wins were shutouts over Norfolk State and VMI.
The last time ODU and Campbell met was in the 2014 Columbia Regional. The Fighting Camels pulled out a 4-1 win in 12 innings to eliminate the Monarchs.

The Fighting Camels, the reigning Big South champions, are off to a strong start. Last weekend, Campbell swept Fairfield and also has wins over No. 9 East Carolina and Maryland. The Camels' only losses have come to No. 10 NC State, No. 12 Coastal Carolina and VCU. Series History: ODU leads, 5-3.
