BATON ROUGE, La. – The Old Dominion women’s golf team is 12 strokes off the lead as they sit in third after two rounds of play at the LSU Tiger Classic. ODU jumped two spots after finishing the first round in fifth. Abigail Portyrata shot a one-over 73 to lead the Monarchs in the second round of the tournament.
In the second 18 of the LSU Tiger Classic, Portyrata put up an eagle and two birdies to sit in a tie for seventh. Portyrata was one of three players to post an eagle this weekend. Right behind her, Jana Melichova inked six birdies on her scorecard to come into the clubhouse with a two-over 74 on Saturday. Melichova leads the field in birdies (10) through two rounds. After an opening round 73, Sana Tufail posted a 78 on day two. Senior Charlotte De Corte posted the third best Monarch score of the afternoon as she finished with a 76. Freshman Leah Onosato posted a 79.
In the final round of the LSU Tiger Classic, ODU will be paired with C-USA foe UTSA and Campbell. There will be a 9:30 a.m. ET shotgun in the final round of the tournament on Sunday.
