Hutchinson Named C-USA Athlete of the Week

NORFOLK, Va. – Holly Hutchinson of the Old Dominion women’s tennis team was named the Conference USA Athlete of the Week on Wednesday afternoon, as announced by league officials.

Hutchinson is one of just two players in the conference to earn this weekly award so far this season. ODU leads the league with four weekly honors, while Rice has three. Marshall, Southern Miss, FIU and FAU all have one award, respectively.

Hutchinson posted another stellar week for the Monarchs with a ranked win in singles and doubles. The junior toppled VCU’s No. 73 Paola Delgado in straight sets at the first position, 6-3, 6-2. Along with teammate Brooke Pilkington, she defeated Winthrop’s 46th-ranked pair in convincing fashion, 6-2. Hutchinson added another 6-1 doubles’ victory against VCU on her way to her second weekly award this season. She has bolstered the Monarchs to a No. 32 national ranking and victories in 12 of their last 13 matches.
