NORFOLK, Va. -- Behind a barrage of three-pointers, the Old Dominion women's basketball team earned revenge against Marshall, routing the Herd, 79-53, on Saturday afternoon at the Ted Constant Center.

Old Dominion (18-9, 9-6) knocked down 13 three-pointers, one shy of tying the school record set earlier this season, and utilized a 27-2 run in the first half to cruise to the victory.

Marshall (15-13, 9-6) defeated the Monarchs, 57-48, back on Jan. 3 in Huntington. ODU scored as many points in the first half, 48, today than they did in that game.

"Overall, great team win. We really paid attention when it came to our defensive effort and rebounding the basketball. We tweaked some things on offense and we want to take advantage of our speed." - Coach McCray

Five Monarchs finished in double figures, led by Ajah Wayne's 21 points. Wayne and Aziah Hudson, who finished with 15, combined for 32 points and nine three-pointers in the first half and were a big reason for ODU's 48-20 halftime lead.

Amari Young had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds and Taylor Edwards and Dejah Carter each finished with 11.

Overall, ODU shot 43 percent from the field, while holding the Herd to 33 percent.

Up next, the Monarchs have a quick turnaround, as they host Longwood on Monday at 6:30 p.m. ET in a rescheduled game from earlier in the season.
