As we inch closer to the start of spring practice ODUSports.com will preview each position. Today we preview the linebackers.

Linebackers Overview

This is the position on defensive with the most returning experience and arguably on the entire roster.

Junior Lawrence Garner led Conference USA with 11.1 tackles per game in 2018 and totaled 100 tackles while missing three games. He also had nine tackles for loss, four pass breakups, three hurries and his first career interception in the win over North Texas. Jordan Young started 11 of 12 games and finished third on the squad with 75 tackles.

Former walk-on Terez Dickerson played in 11 games last season, recording 31 tackles and was a solid performer on special teams.

Demetrius Stitmon is also a former walk-on who played in all 12 games last year with 23 tackles.

ODU added three junior college players that will look to be immediately impactful. Ryan Henry, Cory Jackson and Tony Willams.

Prince Ajegwu has moved to outside linebacker after spending his first two seasons as a reserve safety. He battled injuries last season playing in three games with eight tackles.
