NORFOLK, Va. – Xavier Green (Williamsburg, Va.) of the Old Dominion men’s basketball team earned 2019 All-Conference USA Defensive Team honors, as announced by league officials on Monday afternoon. Green was one of just five players named to the All-Defensive squad.
Green is one of four ODU players to start every game for the Monarchs this season. His 939 total minutes played ranks third on the team. His 21 steals this season rank fourth on the team, while his 119 rebounds also rank fourth for Old Dominion.
Green has been instrumental in turning ODU into one of the best defensive team in the country this season. Old Dominion ranks eighth in the nation for field-goal percentage defense, holding opponents to just 38.9% shooting from the floor. Green and the Monarchs also rank eighth in the NCAA for scoring defense, only allowing 61.2 points per outing.
