IRVING, Texas -- Old Dominion forward Amari Young has been named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Sunday.
Young helped lead ODU to a 2-0 week with a pair of double-doubles. The South Carolina native scored 11 points and hauled in 12 rebounds in both victories over Longwood and at Florida Atlantic.
For the week, Young averaged 11.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.5 steals.
Young becomes the second ODU freshman to earn the weekly honor, joining three-time winner Ajah Wayne.

ODU heads to the C-USA Tournament in Frisco, Texas, this week as the No. 5 seed. The Monarchs open up against No. 12 seed Florida Atlantic.
